Duties and Responsibilities

Participating in drawing and vetting of contracts, leases.
Liaison with external lawyers on court cases for or against the company.
Ensuring company cases are defended before the courts successfully
Compiling information and evidence on cases
Participating in negotiations of treaties and contracts between the company and other parties/organizations.
Providing legal opinions/advice and reports on legal matters as required.
Interpreting legal instruments and statutes.
Participating in filing and maintenance court proceedings
Safe custody of company documents, other records and securities
Negotiating disputes with customers and other parties with a view to settling them out of court

Bachelor of Laws degree from a recognized institution
Post graduate Diploma in Law and Advocate of the High court.
Three (3) years working experience in a large institution.
Possession of valid Certificate of Good Conduct obtained from the CID

1.Programme Management.

a)Coordinate and promote an advocacy and legal Advice Centre (ALAC) campaign at the Coast; thereby contributing to greater citizen empowerment in the fight against corruption
b)Oversee and coordinate all aspects of an Advocacy & legal Advice Centre (ALAC) issues in the Coast region including its administration, institutionalization, staffing and resource mobilization
c)Provide technical support to ensure that technical programme documents are fully reviewed, discussed and appropriately disseminated. This task includes support to research, data collection and reports.
d)Design and implement outreach initiatives on good governance and corruption prevention targeting communities around the Coast and its environs
e)Coordinate documentation of all ALAC activities in the region; this also includes timely reports to the main office
f)Support the Citizen Demand Programme Coordinator and other ALAC Programme Officers to produce awareness materials for ALAC publicity campaigns
g)In liaison with the Research Officer, facilitate research activities on ALAC, including surveys
h)Ensure efficient and effective implementation of the project including monitoring, evaluation and reporting of ALAC activities
i)Support the identification and recruitment of qualified service providers and staff including procurement of assets/utilities and consultants for tasks specific to the sub programmes. The Programme Officer shall also assist in preparation of expression of interest, terms of reference and contracts in accordance to TI-Kenya policies and procedures and will facilitate successful delivery of work by such service providers
j)Ensure efficient and accuracy of filing systems and coordinate other information management systems relating to the ALAC activities in the Coast Region

Advisory/ Strategy Development.

a)Define sub – programmes priorities and objectives and communicate to staff and partners for mutual understanding and ownership.
b)Ensure proper synergies between ALAC activities and other TI Kenya programmes and departments
c)Contribute to TI Kenya overall strategic plan implementation and Citizen Demand Programme
