AGA KHAN UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF NURSING (AKUSON)
Established in 1983 in Karachi Pakistan, AKUSON is the first academic component of the Aga Khan University. Since its inception, AKUSON has played a pivotal role in changing public perceptions towards the nursing profession and has established in Pakistan, an internationally acceptable model for nursing education and practice. At present, AKUSON conducts four academic programs: General Nursing (RN) Diploma (3 years), BScN (4 years), Post RN, BScN (2 years), and MScN (2 years). Its nursing programs are recognized worldwide and AKUSON graduates are working in leadership positions nationally, regionally as well as internationally in UK, USA, Canada, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Syria etc.
ADVANCED NURSING STUDIES PROGRAMME, (ANS) EAST AFRICA
AKUSON’s ANS programme was developed in consultation with the nursing councils and the Ministries of Health and Education of the governments of East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda), to improve the clinical practices and leadership skills of nurses working in the region. The programme provides career advancement opportunities for nurses generally and for women in particular. It is a collaborative endeavor, underpinned by a range of formal and informal partnerships with government and private hospitals, nursing leaders and local faculty in each country, as well as linkages with prestigious international organizations such as the Royal College of Nursing of the United Kingdom. This programme is now growing into a School of Nursing and Midwifery and therefore we seek senior faculty members who will be instrumental in moving this agenda forward.

Responsibilities
The incumbents will primarily be involved in teaching, research and practice in several of our programmes including undergraduate programmes. The detailed duties will include among others:
Serving in the University’s academic committees and participate in multidisciplinary activities.
Quality assurance of all programmes, curriculum development and be actively involved in contributing to the nursing profession nationally, regionally and internationally.
Implementing the curriculum
Setting and marking of examinations
Conducting research and publication
Initiating and maintaining collaborations with clinical facilities at Aga Khan hospitals and other institutions
Utilize modern teaching/learning methodologies.
Requirements
To qualify, the candidate should:
Possess a doctorate degree in nursing or related field.
He/she should be registered with the Nursing Council of their respective countries,
Have at least five years teaching experience at an institution of higher learning
Demonstrate expertise in modern pedagogy and productivity by commitment to research and publication
Demonstrate expertise in academic acumen and ability to mentor junior faculty.
