Reporting to the General Manager-Financial Services, the job holder will feed into the strategic planning process by providing analysis on an on-going basis of existing financial services, trends, proactively researching and informing the business of products and services to guide the division strategic planning process.

Key responsibilities will be to:

* Input to the budget process and ensure that business plans and long range plans are approved.
* Ensure all financial services data (products and customers) are accurately reported in MIS.
* Track KPI performance within business model and consolidate input for budget cycle.
* Perform competitor scope monitoring.
* Benchmarking with global trends and identifying and sharing best practice.
* Understand end to end customer experience objectives in order to understand what drives consumer engagement and demonstrate experience of driving strategy through execution.
* Quantify value of M-PESA users to Safaricom core business by tracking churn, ARPU and other key parameters of M-PESA customers vs. other customers for strategic planning purposes.
* Prepare customized reports for M-PESA transactions records to forecast usage & activity.
* Continually question customer behavior, identify & quantify trends from usage data.
* Prepare ongoing performance reports and highlight trends on business performance.
* Prepare reports as and when required for regulatory and administrative purposes.

Minimum Requirements:

* Honors degree from a recognized university preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Mathematics (statistics).
* At least 6 years experience in a well run company serving in management handling business planning, financial analysis and budget management.
* A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level II qualification is an added advantage.
* An MBA is an additional advantage.
* Must have experience in preparation of budgets and forecasts in a large company.
* Must have financial modeling experience, preferably in Excel or business objects.
* Must have worked in computerized environment preferably with Oracle application.
* The ideal candidate will also demonstrate self drive, initiative and team player attributes.

Detailed Description



§ Ensure all relevant documentation and pre-alerts are provided by the user desks to ensure smooth and fast clearance of shipments.

§ Ensure for all shipment types the process for clearing is articulated and well understood by the team

§ Provide day to day support to the AOG team to ensure to meet 4 hrs delivery KPI

§ Keep contacts for all authorities who make decisions at the airport for customs to facilitate quick intervention to support the C&F team.

§ Ensure all documentation and accounts for the SHEDS used are up to date and proper credit facility provided to KQ

§ For import Sea freight shipments ensure process fully documented and understood by the team.

§ Ensure on a daily basis that the C&F team keep the department tracker fully updated.

§ Ensure all reports are fully updated and reflecting 100% correct information these include AOG, import and export status reports.



· Manage the team to ensure all KPI’s are exceeded and met.

· Proactively engage to ensure all team perform to ensure efficiency on the chain. Tyres delivery for export. Catering delivery for export.

· Ensure all payment requests are submitted in a timely manner.

· Monitor closely processes to ensure no additional costs incurred unnecessarily.

· Managing National Bank of Kenya (NBK) account by closely liaising with Finance on funds availability, account usage and ensure that daily cheque payments are done.

· Manage and arrange for payment and reconciliations of various fees to Customs, KAA, Consolidators and transit sheds to ensure smooth flow of supplies to support our business.

· Develop and maintain effective relationships with customers, regulatory bodies and suppliers that results in timely delivery of spares and catering for customer satisfaction.

· Represent the company in all C&F professional bodies to ensure all unnecessary trade barriers are removed

About 40% of the world's population, mostly those living in the poorest countries are at risk of malaria. Of these 2.5 billion people at risk, more than 500 million become severely ill with malaria every year and more than 1 million die from the effects of the disease. The WorldWide Antimalarial Resistance Network (WWARN) has been established to set up a global resource to ensure efficacious use of antimalarial drugs so that more of the right drugs can get to the right people at the right time, and to ensure the drugs will remain efficacious for longer. WWARN will collate and analyse different types of data (clinical, molecular, in vitro, pharmacology and drug quality) on the effectiveness of antimalarial drugs in Asia, Africa and Latin America. In parallel, WWARN is also designing an internet-accessible database that will incorporate tools for health policy makers to view and analyse the data. The Network will work with data collection agencies in countries where malaria is common, and with health policy makers at national and global levels. The East Africa Regional Centre in Nairobi, Kenya, is newly opened and is central to WWARN activities in East Africa. The regional WWARN centre is hosted by the KEMRI-Wellcome Trust Programme in Nairobi.

Tenure: Until 30th June, 2013 in the first instance.

Responsible to: The WWARN East Africa Regional Scientific Director.

Responsibilities and duties of the post-holder

The WWARN East Africa Centre will play an important role in establishing effective partnerships with potential collaborators and data source groups. It will provide support and advice to research groups particularly regarding training in the use of WWARN research tools and services to facilitate the generation of high quality data.

The post-holder will be a local contact for WWARN in East Africa. S/he will undertake advocacy and technical support activities in support of the WWARN mission. The post will report to the WWARN Regional Scientific Director, who in turn reports to the WWARN Executive Director.

Key Duties

The East Africa Regional Liaison Scientist will undertake the following, in collaboration with the Regional Scientific Director:

Networking and capacity building

Identify research groups in the region and develop partnerships with WWARN to extend the capacity for generating high quality data, encourage data analysis and facilitate data submission to the WWARN repository:

1. Engage with research groups to encourage data submission and communicate proper use of the informatics system for efficient data sharing and proper use of database tools.
2. Develop quality control and quality assurance procedures and build capacity at research groups that are likely to share data.
3. Engage and assist research groups in pre-study clinical efficacy design, quality control and assurance, as well as data management and analysis.
4. Encourage and support research groups to use standard data formats that will permit both comparison of data from disparate sources and pooled analyses.

Communications and advocacy

Support the dissemination of information about WWARN activities, including:

2. Experience of conducting clinical trials in a developing country setting, preferably in the malaria field;

Job Title: PROJECT MANAGER- 1 POST- FULL TIME- AC/1/55/12-(CAVS)
Reporting to the Center Director, the person will be in-charge of the following:
• Handle all administration, travel, event planning, purchasing and other administration of the
Center
• Maintain close contact with project partners, and other collaborators
• Collection and summarizing of information, proposals, incoming and outgoing documents
• Supervision and co-ordination of project staff
• Participate in activity planning, budgeting and implementation
• Keeping track of deliverables in the workplan in collaboration with local and international
partners and collaborators
• Take minutes at Advisory Board, and Project implementation committee meetings
• Lead the preparation of policy briefs together with Research Fellows and other project staff
• Organizing workshops and conferences
Requirements/skills
• Advanced degree in Natural Resource Management, Social Science, Community or General
Development preferably with a bias to higher education and Dryland communities
• Project management skills: Good grasp of the project cycle management and the Logical
Framework Analysis (logframe) as a planning tool.
• A good understanding of Dryland issues especially on higher education and sustainable
development
• At least 3 years experience in monitoring and evaluation of projects dealing with project
management and livelihoods issues in the Drylands.
• Good report writing and communication skills
• Good experience in handling consultancies and write ups
• Familiarity with field data collection, analysis and presentation
• Ability to work within deadlines

• Computer literate (word processing, spreadsheet, Power point presentation, internet,
databases)
• A commitment to the ideals of development of the dryland ecosystems and peoples in
Kenya
• Previous work in a USAID-funded project will be a clear added advantage
• The successful candidate should be able to report immediately.
Terms of Engagement
The project manager will be contracted to work for a period of 18 months. An attractive
remuneration package will be offered to the successful candidate.
